T.A.G. Marketing
Question
As a consumer, you spend a lot of money every day, right?
You go out to eat, get your hair done, pay the gardener and pool guy, and even pay your car payment on time. And this doesn’t even include the people who sell to your business!
But when was the last time someone called you to thank you ... .to simply thank you?
Why does simple thankfulness happen so infrequently? Why don’t we take a couple of minutes each day to simply say, “Thanks”? But more importantly, how can gratitude increase profits?
Customers Expect Perfect
One of today’s primary marketing challenges is considering there are so many competitive alternatives, your customers expect perfection - nothing less. This means that when you go out of your way to deliver an absolutely flawless and perfect service for your customers, you merely meet their expectations … from your customer's perspective, flawless performance is merely average service..
Raving Fans - The Holy Grail
To exceed their expectations and create raving fans – which the holy grail of marketing – you must endear your business to your customer and dramatically exceed their expectations.
That’s where T.A.G. Marketing comes in.
How to "T.A.G."
T.A.G. Marketing is a very simple marketing technique that grows profits. Here’s how it works:
STEP 1: For a segment of your customers, set up a schedule of benchmarks for 30 days, 60 days, 6 months, and one year after their first purchase (first purchase is ideal, T.A.G. and start anytime).
STEP 2: T.A.G. is an acronym for “Thank. Ask. Give”. At each of these benchmarks, each customer is “TAG'ed" with a phone call:
- THANK: Thank them for their business; and if customer directed, then engage in brief conversation.
- ASK: Ask them for some information (e.g. birthday, anniversary, purchase plans, performance feedback, etc.) that deepens your customer database and enhances your business’ worth.
- GIVE: Give them additional value as an incentive to refer friends, such as free appetizers for a group of four, free drinks or special discount for customer’s friends, etc. If desired, Aboonda can help with creative ideas.
STEP 3: Track referrals, and repeat. Tracking referrals is of paramount importance (See Referral Marketing). The reason why T.A.G. Marketing increases profits is because it multiplies your most loyal – and profitable – customers.
- Your loyal customers fit a certain demographic profile; and the people they hang out with fit the same profile. So as your most loyal customers refer their friends, a good percentage are likely to become additional loyal, and profitable, customers.
- Built into T.A.G. Marketing’s soltion referral tracking database that was custom designed for us, which you can use for free with an Aboonda Subscription.
